Baptism: Our Call to Mission

Baptismal Font

In Baptism, each new Christian is anointed priest, prophet and king. Just as Christ's body was broken and his blood poured out for others, each Christian, in living out his/her baptism, is called to serve others in Jesus' name.

We serve others in our homes, our neighborhoods, our Church communities, our workplace, and in the global community. The efforts of all are needed to build the Kingdom of God.

There are many ways for all parishioners to serve others at St. Paul's Parish. Our parish faith formation efforts are so diverse and multi-dimensional, not just one ministry or one group of volunteers is all that's needed. Although we always need individuals whose gifts are those of catechesis and teaching, we need so much more: people who can plan and coordinate family days, people who will organize social gatherings for teenagers and younger children, people to assist with sacramental preparation, to name but a few. Nor is this limited to adults. Teenagers themselves can take responsibility for many of our efforts as well. Our teens are involved not only in our community, but in the larger community in such arenas as Habitat for Humanity and St. Vincent Hotel ministry to the homeless. And of course, even younger children can minister to the community as servers, choir members, and helpers with many other activities.
